The Malthouse is situated on the outskirts of Gillingham which is the most northerly town in the beautiful county of Dorset, close to the borders of Somerset and Wiltshire.
The building in part dates back to the 17th Century and during its 300 year history has been significantly extended to a large country house and now tastefully converted into a Residential Home and Independent Living Units. The Malthouse bursts with charm and character, sitting proud amongst mature trees and attractive landscaped gardens.
The town of Gillingham is surrounded by beautiful peaceful countryside, with wonderful walks, festivals and many places of interest and Dorset has one of England's sunniest climates. Close by is Shaftesbury, a pretty town with the most glorious views in England. It offers an eclectic and stylish mix of independent shops, restaurants, museums and galleries. It is also home to the famous Cobbles of Gold Hill where 400 year old cottages stand proud having achieved fame in forming the backdrop of Ridley Scott's 'Hovis' advert of the 1970s.
